Keeping it in the Family at A Cyprus Wedding

Brides by Solo has been selling dreams in the form of wedding dresses for over 30 years now.  In all this time, there is never such an exciting moment as when one of the family decides to get married!  Boutique owner, Odette, was the proudest aunty when her niece, Sasha, married beau, Josh, in a beautiful Cyprus wedding…

sashajoshkissAssisting a family member to find her wedding dress was, of course, no exception.  As a regular visitor to the boutique to visit her aunt, Sasha was very much at home in our bridal shop environment.

With only three months to spare until the wedding, it soon became dressing up time as Sasha tried on every dress in the shop.

Sasha wanted to be certain she had found ‘the one’ – the one and only dress of her dreams – which happened to be the first wedding dress she tried on!

Destination brides often choose floaty chiffon dresses or lightweight satin numbers suitable for the beach or hotter climates.  But this wasn’t Sasha’s idea of the dream dress.  Revelling in her own identity, Sasha swayed away from the typical destination wedding dress.

Our beautiful bride-to-be chose a full skirted design with tulle underskirts and full flowing train.  Packed as hand luggage, her wedding dress was steam-pressed on arrival at the hotel in Cyprus – to look as beautiful as it had looked the day she tried it on in the bridal shop.

Sasha and Josh had wanted a relaxed wedding with a difference.

Agreeing to get married on the beach, Sasha and Josh chose Paphos in Cyprus as their wedding destination.  Their family and friends flew out to the Mediterranean to celebrate with them.  On a fine October day, their guests witnessed the wedding ceremony in the late afternoon sunshine.

The three bridesmaids wore off-the-shoulder watermelon dresses by Romantic of Devon.  The groom and his ushers looked sharp in grey suits, sporting vibrant turquoise cravats to match the girls’ turquoise flip-flops.

bridesmaidsThe ‘Executive Wedding Bus’, aka the party bus, then transported the bride, her groom and their guests to the reception.  With music pumping, champagne flowing and the sun shining, the bus toured through the streets of Paphos.  Locals and tourists waved the wedding party on their merry way…

… To a surprise reception on the Jolly Roger Sailing Boat.

Odette says:

“The boat sailed around Paphos harbour: there were speeches, singing and dancing under the stars.  It was a spectacular way to celebrate Sasha and Josh’s wedding.  The evening’s entertainment was finished off with a firework display ashore…”

“… The wedding party stayed in Cyprus the whole week, and a wedding in Paphos comes highly recommended from all of us who attended.  Oh what fun we had!”

Original and quirky, just like the Brides by Solo family, this destination wedding was a great success!
