Once a week we like to go through our dictionary of Wedding Tips. As we’ve just started blogging on the Hello Magazine Wedding Hub, which we are thrilled about, we thought we’d start a wedding dictionary here too.

Getting married and having the most amazing wedding is a dream for many girls, but when it actually comes down to the planning of a wedding, the romance can be whipped away.

That’s why this week we’re going to talk about A is for Ability!

Now, don’t take that the wrong way. We’re not saying you don’t have the ability, as we believe it’s not about having the ability to organise your own wedding, but having the time to do so.

The average wedding costs around £20,000. Can you imagine what that amount of money could buy? And yet, most couples are willing to spend this on one day. Even if you’re saving costs in different areas, or have a rigid budget, or simply don’t believe in the big fancy day, chances are you will still spend a couple of thousands pounds!

So if this is the case, because it’s one of the most memorable days of your life, why not seek professional advice to ensure you can have the best day possible.

Most wedding planners offer an hour consultation. You may decide after speaking to a professional wedding planner that you can do this on your own. Many brides want to do it on their own. Many have dreamed about this day since being a little girl. However, a wedding planner should work with you, not dictate to you. Make sure you feel comfortable with your wedding planner, or the relationship could fail before it’s even started.

But don’t look at the cost of a wedding planner as another financial burden, as they can actually save you money; a good wedding planner will have many links in the wedding industry.

The most important thing about your wedding is making it unique to you both. Really think about your ideas, your theme, how will you make your day different to the others your guests have attended this year. So much money will be spent on your wedding day so why not spend it on things that will make your day individual.

If you hire a wedding planner, this doesn’t mean you don’t have the ability to do it yourself. Wedding planners will save you time and money … and stress!
