The sweetest hairstyles for your sweetheart dress
My clients often tell me that they’d like the best wedding day hairstyle to go with their dress. While it really depends on the overall look and style of the bride, I always have a few recommendations in mind, especially for my favourite neckline of all: the sweetheart.
Pulling your hair all the way up is my personal favourite for brides with a sweetheart neckline. This season I suggest that brides go for the most romantic up-do of all: the chignon which rests at the nape of the neck. For an even more romantic look, tie in a French braid or twist. If you want something simpler, look to the swept back look of Arsenal footballer Theo Walcott’s bride at their wedding in 2013, whose basic up-do ensured all eyes were on her dress, along with her exposed collarbone, shoulders and neck.
Show off your locks
Just take a look at Reese Witherspoon’s no fuss wedding day hairstyle to see how well a sweetheart neckline pairs with leaving your hair down. Both classic and romantic, flowing tresses can be spiced up by choosing a look that’s still out of the norm for the bride. Those with unruly curls can have them straightened, while straight haired brides will want to seize the opportunity to add curls or waves. I’m all about tying in a vintage look and there’s nothing more romantic than inspiration straight from the silver screen, so consider giving finger waves and pin curls a try.
A sweet compromise
The best of both worlds for brides who want to show off their neckline and their Rapunzel-like locks: half up and half down. I’d choose a deep side parting with the top layer swept back and all of the hair curled in loose curls. Consider including some shimmering hair pins or another elegant hair accessory to feel even more like a princess.
With all of these hairstyles to choose from, any bride showing off a sweetheart neckline this season should be able to find one they love!
