Taking care of your feet for the wedding

Many of my fellow shoe loving friends put a lot of energy into picking out the perfect pair for their wedding day. But my motto is: pretty shoes, pretty feet. This is why I’ll be spending the weeks and months leading up to my own wedding getting my feet just as pretty as my shoes.

Make sure that your feet are as pretty as your shoes!

Feet first

Even though your feet will often be covered up by your dress, if you’re wearing sandals or peep toes like those worn by celebrity bride Kate Moss, you’ll want to make sure that your feet are ready for any unexpected photos. However, I’d take it one step further and suggest that even brides wearing shoes that conceal their toes include their feet as part of their beauty regimen leading up to the big day. I’ve seen plenty of brides kick off their shoes on the dance floor, and the last thing you want is for your unpolished toes to suddenly be on full display!

Pamper yourself

Getting a spa pedicure before your wedding is almost a given. Be sure that you go to a salon that comes highly recommended and splurge on a paraffin wax treatment to smoothen your feet. Many brides choose to use this time as an opportunity to bring along their bridesmaids and to get out any last minute pre-wedding gossip. To make it an even more festive occasion, call ahead to find out if you can bring along some bubbly.

At-home tips

By no means should you ignore your feet until your pre-wedding pedicure. Instead, use a pumice stone to scrub away dry, cracked skin on a daily basis, and slather on a thick lotion and put on a pair of socks before bed. Also, don’t forget to make sure that you cut your toenails straight across, just above the skin, to avoid ingrown nails.

Best of all, by getting your feet beautiful for your wedding, you’ll ensure that they’re ready for another moment full of photo ops: your honeymoon!
