Go alternative with your wedding shoes
I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to wedding shoes! What could be more stunning than a pair of ivory satin stiletto sling-backs with a hint of French Chantilly lace? But being a fashionista, I realise that some brides may prefer an alternative, quirkier look. Converse style shoes may not be everyone’s choice, but if they suit your personality, then go for it!
Here’s a guide to some different wedding footwear!
Boho-themed wedding shoes
Most of my unmarried friends see themselves walking down the aisle in a classic white bridal gown and shimmering silver heels. But if you prefer to mix your look up, you can add a touch of boho-chic with your headdress and a pair of coloured loafers. A combination of comfort and style!
Or what about some cool silver sequined bridal sneakers? Celebrities like singer Rita Ora have been rocking the chic dress and sneakers combination for the last few seasons. Even actress Sarah Jessica Parker was recently seen at a fashion shoot wearing trainers. In my book, whatever works for Carrie Bradshaw’s alter ego works for me! If the style of your bridal gown isn’t too formal, then some snazzy sneakers could easily see you through from dawn to dusk on your big day!
Destination wedding shoes
Planning a destination wedding to a Caribbean beach paradise? Then I suggest you invest in a pair (or two) of Havaianas. Much more comfortable than going barefoot over rocks and shifting sands! But you don’t need to give up on glamour. Glass Slippers has a great range of bejeweled flip flops decorated with Swarovski crystals.
What you wear on your feet on your big day may also be dictated by the time of year. If your heart’s set on a winter wonderland celebration, then dare to wear Ugg Australia’s silver boots. Ugg’s new ‘I do’ collection exclusively for brides is comfy but bang on trend.
If you do choose alternative wedding shoes, remember it’s the way you wear them that will make the look work! Trust in your style and instincts!
