Sopwell House Spa Day
If you are planning a fab hen do or just some pre-wedding pampering, there’s one way to get ready for your big day and that’s book a spa day for you and the girls. I’m always in a rush and rarely get any me time but thought a much needed pamper day would do just the trick. Myself and my friend Jo decided to go back to where I’d been married and spend a pamper day at Sopwell House in St Albans courtesy of Spa Breaks. The last time I’d been to Sopwell House was my wedding day nearly 5 years ago and I had forgotten how beautiful it was.
A tranquil spa hotel in Hertfordshire
If you’re looking for a sanctuary of calm and tranquility before your wedding day then the Spa at Sopwell House is the ideal retreat. Offering some of the finest leisure, health and beauty facilities in Hertfordshire, the Country Club and Spa allows you to relax and unwind. Whether you’re looking for a spa break with friends or a luxury day on your own to get ready for that special day, their location close to London and St Albans ensures you the best of both worlds – shopping and fun in town and a tranquil, soothing experience in their serene spa.
The spa and pool area have undergone an extensive refurbishment, designed by Sparcstudio, the multi-award winning designers and architects – facilities include a 14.5 meter swimming pool, children’s pool, Jacuzzi, starlit steam room, glass fronted sauna and curved mosaic-lined experience showers with a luxurious heated mosaic seat.
The contemporary decor of the Spa is combined with refined Japanese elements and warm natural materials. LED feature lighting creates a relaxing ambience and the luxurious furnishings ensure your time there is an opportunity to unwind, reflect and recoup.
Most of their day spa packages include:
Welcome tour by one of our dedicated spa team
Full use of the Club & Spa facilities
Robe, towel and slippers for your use throughout the day
ESPA Travel Bag & amenities
Exercise & relaxation classes (subject to availability on the day)
A sumptuous 3 course buffet lunch in The Brasserie
Complimentary tea or fruit infusion on arrival
Jo and I arrived at 9 am, I was taken to the changing rooms, given a robe, towel and slippers. I decided to make use of the fantastic studio and spent 30 minutes doing yoga before hitting the gym and powerplates machine.
Lucky for us the sun was also shining so we decided to hangout on the terrace and sunbath before lunch at 12. Wow relaxing, sunbathing, and unwinding, a rarity for both of us being busy working mums juggling home life, work, and the school run. We then went through for a three-course lunch and I was so impressed by the food on offer, healthy but also tasty. Especially if you are on a diet there’s something for you. But if you’ve managed to burn lots of calories and deserve a yummy desert as most us ladies do then there’s some equally delish deserts.
After lunch we had our treatments in the newly refurbished treatment rooms. I opted for a body scrub and a massage to get my skin soft and lovely for my ensuing holidays. The therapist used ESPA products. We started with my body scrub and then I showered using the products which smelt amazing and my skin was so soft. I then had a one hour full body massage and I quite happily drifted into a state of calm and actually think I nodded off.
The treatments were lovely then we headed back to the pool and terrace for more relaxation and sunbathing. I can honestly say I haven’t been that relaxed for years because however fabulous massages and treatments are you don’t always feel the benefit if you have to then jump on a tube or fly off in the car. We ended our day or relaxation with complimentary drinks on the terrace, Perfect!
In the future I have now decided working in the rat race and being a manic mum I have to designate me time and there’s no better way to do it than to fully relax for a day or two and completely switch off like myself and Jo managed to. I highly recommend Sopwell House especially if your planning a pre bridal pamper or birthday treat with the girls but also Spa Breaks for all their help and planning the day without a blip.
