The best wedding venues in Bristol

Now it’s no secret that organising your wedding can be hectic – a bit of a circus in fact! So why not choose a circus school for your reception venue? Sounds like a good idea?  Then look no further than Bristol to tie the knot! This vibrant city has many fabulous venues. I’ve already listed my favourites at London and Cambridge so here are my Bristol picks!

A dash of magic on your special day

St Paul’s Church in Portland Square, in the heart of Bristol, is home to Circomedia, a world-famous centre for circus and theatre training. A group of performers like acrobats, fire-jugglers and magicians can add a unique sparkle to your special day. This historical venue caters for up to 200 people and has facilities to host a live band.

What music would you play at a circus?

One of Bristol’s main attractions is its historic waterfront. What could be more romantic than getting married aboard Brunel’s SS Great Britain? Launched in 1843, this luxury liner provides a stunning venue for your wedding or civil ceremony and reception.

Most couples choose to spend the whole day on board, but it is possible to just hold the ceremony or reception there. The choice is yours, but I would recommend you plan the whole event there if your budget allows. Think about the photo opportunities and the chance to add a touch of celebrity chic to your nuptials! Remember billionaire shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis’ wedding to Jackie Kennedy aboard the superyacht Cristina O?

More traditional Bristol venues

For a more traditional hotel wedding venue, check out Thistle Bristol City Centre, The Grand. With five function rooms, this elegant hotel can cater for small parties of 50 guests or for a civil ceremony and evening reception for 500! It offers all-inclusive packages, which include every detail from the room layout to the wine list, food and flowers.

The centrepieces must be included in some packages as well.

But if you prefer to avoid the big city bustle, then I would suggest Mercure Bristol North The Grange, a 4-star hotel set among 18 acres of landscaped gardens. A countryside setting just north of Bristol city centre!

Good luck with your venue choice!
